Theatre Related Experience

Puppet Trainer - The Concerned Kids - September - November 2008

            Creation of a puppet training program that corresponds to the mandate of The Concerned Kids vision.  Responsible for training volunteers to manipulate Bunraku puppets from the Kids on the Block programs, advise on how to learn a script, and troubleshoot / field questions from children ages 6-12.  

Program Development - Gibson House Musuem  -2007 & 2008 Season

            For the camps "Runaways" and "Letters from the Past" acted as main resaerch and development of a new camp program.  Script writing, props cheif, wardrobe chief; any support material for the camp to perform at highest quality.  Lead Counselor when camp is running.  

Artistic Director/Producer - Bony Pate Productions - January 2007 - Present

           Creation of production company with fellow board members; organizing funds, grants, supportors and meetings; booking shows for future runs, creating business relationships with theatre houses and the artisitc community.  

Acting Coach - By Need Contract - April 2007

           One-on-one help and direction to highschool students in need of focus to better themselves for university entrance auditions.

Stage Manager - Tempest Theatre - Nov 2006 - Limited Run

Head running crew duties, calling lights and cues, properties management, liason between booth and cast.

Drama Teacher - Childrens Art Theatre School- March 2006 - Jan 2007

Creating, organizing, and teaching the fundamentals of dramatic arts in application to Shakespeare to children ages 6-15. Also act as stage manager, choreographer of fights and movement, assisatnt director, and stage crew member the night of childrens' year-end performance.

Drama Teacher - Arts Express - Sept 2005 - Dec 2006

Creating, organizing, and teaching a grade 1-6 friendly cirriculum that works towards a creative environment for children who do not recieve a drama class in their own school system. Lunch hour and after school programs.

Workshop Leader - Harbourfront Community Centre - Aug 2005

Creating and organizing a 4 hour workshop for children of nine years of age at a community daycare centre. Focus on the arts; Shakespeare, acting, and stage combat. Responsible for childrens welfare.

Front of House Manager - Brampton Theatres - Sept 2004 - Jan 2006

Supervisor of concessions and ushering staff; key holder and responsible for the float. Liason between audience and entertainment. FOH announement made live over PA, questions and comments handled, and trouble seat holder. Works alongside the Box Office and Technical staff to create a harmonious theatre experience for the audience members.

Acting Coach - McMaster Orientation Drama - Aug 2004

Creating and organizing a 3 hour workshop intensive for teens. One-on-one direction; voice & body as the main focus. Intensive built for pre-production as teens were inexperienced actors who showed great interest in the performing arts. Confidence booster as a second goal.

Programme Coordinator - Hamilton Urban Theatre Association - June 2004 - August 2004

Creating and instilling a Shakespeare cirriculum for students of the ages nine to twelve years of age. 8:30 am to 5:00 pm the children were supervised and taught acting techniques through games, workshops and activities created and directed by myself. Handling petty-cash, interviewing volunteers, organizing duties for my assistant and volunteers, answering phones, publicist duites to market the programme to the public, organizing a budget, booking guest speakers, canvassing for sponsors, taking the children on day trips, directing and stage managing the children's show: A Midsummer Night's Dream as well as re-writing the script with my assistant.

Youth Counsellor – M/S Wind Norwegian Cruise Line – May 31 2003 - February 2004

Traveling across Alaska and the Yucatan, I was responsible for various age groups on a weekly basis. I handled food, money and most importantly children for hours at a time. I provided a curriculum and discipline for anywhere from one to thirty children at once either by myself or with my partner. Age groups from 2-5, 6-9, 10-12, and 13-17 years of age. As well, I was a Cruise Staff member that had to load tender boats, lead entertainment venues, socialize with guests and deal with complaints. 3 to 16 hour days.

Program Coordinator/Drama Teacher - Rumball Music Studios – July 2000 - Aug 2005 (seasonal)

Camp counselor and year round teacher. I am responsible for the creation of the curriculum and teach various theatrical techniques to youths ranging from 5-15 years of age. Choreography, musical training, improv, acting, yoga and other topics are topics I head in my classes. Total responsibility for children’s welfare with praise from parents on an on going basis; children were with me from 10 am until 5 pm.

Box Office Assistant – Erindale Studio Theatre –September 2001- April 2002

Handling cash, ticket sales and secretary for incoming and outgoing patron calls regarding sales.

Volunteer Character – Children’s Aid Foundation – 1992-1997

Meet and Greet character at various benefits in support of charity. Performer on the Main Stage in various roles.
